BOND, John - Passed away at Providence Health Care in his 81st year on December 20, 2011. Surrounded by his loving wife Sally and daughters Barb, Bev, Mary and Sheilah. A gentleman's gentleman, John was the kindest and most loving husband, father and grandfather. John will be greatly missed by his sons-in-law Warren, Ewan and Chris. Also missed by his most loved grandchildren Meg and Steve, Phil and Meg, Cady, Bryce, Nathan and Lydia. We all had the privilege of enjoying John's unconditional love and friendship. A private family service will be held. Son of the late Arthur Henry & Florence (nee Beckley) Smith of Scarborough. Brother of the late Dorothy, Walter & Florence (nee Smith) McKean. Survived by brother Fred (Edna); sister-in-law (Jessie). Father to Robert (Joanne), the late Diane (nee Smith) Putt, Arthur (Toni), Don (Denise) and Tim (Lorie). Grandfather to Tara (Felipe), Craig, Christopher (Brenda), Amanda (Stuart), Laura, Scott, Lindsay (Gary), Deborah (Rory) and Kristina. Great-grandfather to Brianna, Claudia, Hannah, Quinntin and Olivia. Retired Captain and District Chief in 1982 with 30 years service on Scarborough Fire Dept. Proud survivor of the D-Day Normandy invasion with the Royal Regina Rifles Regiment. Friends will be received at the McDougall & Brown Funeral Home "Scarborough Chapel", 2900 Kingston Rd. BAILEY, William George Thomas - May 10, 1931 - October 6, 2011 After a prolonged battle with lung cancer it is with great sadness that his family says their final goodbyes. He was a dedicated firefighter until retirement. He loved all sports and really enjoyed golfing with friends and beloved wife Norma Bailey. Wife Norma and children Richard Long, Ron Bailey (Darlene), Jan McNulty (Joe), Wm. Bailey Jr. (Joanne), John Long (Leslie) and Ann Newman will miss him greatly. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren have lost their "Pop". Predeceased by son Francis Long, grandson Adam Bailey and his sister Ruth Ferguson. Survived by brother-in-law Cliff Ferguson, sister-in-law Helen (Joe) Gatt will think of him often. ROB REID has informed us of the passing of Richard Philip (Phil) Deschamps at Brantford General Hospital on Sunday August 28, 2011 in his 59th year. Phil was the beloved brother of Sharon and BRUCE MOONLIGHT of Whitby Ontario. Visitation for Phil will be at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home, 5295 Thickson Road North – Whitby on Wednesday, August 31st from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, September 1st at 1:00 p.m.

Doug's  father Clive Jones passed away this week. Doug [Sen #660] was former Scarborough firefighter on A-2 and worked at Hall 7 for most of his career on Rescue 7. He is now stationed in North Command
 
The visitation and funeral will both be held at Low & Low Funeral Home, 23 Main Street, south in Uxbridge.
 
Visitation is Friday May 20th - 4 pm to 6 pm and at 7 pm to 9 pm.
 
Funeral is 2 pm on Saturday May 21st at 2 pm.

Idolized by his 5 grandchildren, Carly, Braeden, Hailey, Matthew and Ashlyn. Predeceased by his brother, Donald. Barry was President of The Scarborough Firefighters Retirees Club, President of the former Scarborough Quarter Century Club, Member of Highland Creek Legion No. 258 Colour Guard, Co-founder of The Scarborough Firefighters Museum and a dedicated volunteer of 20 years on Support 7 Canteen Truck (G.T.M.M.A.), serving on-duty firefighters and emergency services personnel. Its with the deepest of sympathy and regret we advise of the passing of Tom Stevens - the father of Bill Stevens (Hall 211 / old 15 - B Platoon). Tom passed away on January 13, 2011. He started with the Scarborough Fire Dept. in October of 1948 and worked his way to Captain a position he held until his retirement March 1982. He was a World War 2 Veteran who had served in Italy and N/W Europe.

Tom has been cremated and a service will be held on Saturday January 22nd at The Simple Alternative Funeral Home - 1057 Brock Rd., Pickering, Ontario. Receiving at 11:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 12:00 noon.

MCAULEY, Thomas Dodds - Born in Ballyalbania, County Antrim, N. Ireland, peacefully passed away in Rouge Valley Hospital on January 26, 2010 in his 77th year. He is survive by his loving wife Lois, son Allen, daughter-in-law Marianne and grandkids Ky and Mathew. Brother of the late Norman (Elsa) and Marbeth (Joe), brother-in-law to Ellen and Dave McClean, John McCreary and the late Russel Coplen. Tom lived a fulfilled life, serving with the Scarborough Fire Department for 30 years. His love for motorcyles, clocks and engines drove him to be passionate about life, an inspiration to those who knew him and loved by those whose lives he has touched. He will be missed by familes and friends.

HENRY (HARRY) PAUL FRANCIS Harry passed peacefully early on Monday, December 14, 2009 after a very short battle with cancer with his family by his side. The many friends that he made throughout his life, comforted and supported him with words of encouragement and prayer but he was unable to overcome this battle, though he fought valiantly. Harry, the eldest son of Norma and the late James Roy Francis was born July 21, 1940 in Toronto, Ontario. He was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend. His career choice was firefighting and he joined the Scarborough Fire Department in 1963 and retired as a District Chief in 1993. Harry graduated from the University of Toronto in 1975. JOHN ANDREW SCHUETT John Andrew, 83 of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, passed away October 5, 2009 at the Halifax Infirmary, QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, N.S. Born in Guelph, Ontario, he was a son of Edward and Mary (Mullen) Schuett. He had joined the Canadian Armed Forces near the end of the Second World War and later became a member of the Scarborough Fire Department, retiring after 30 years service with the rank of Captain. He was a member of a Canadian Firefighters Curling Champion team, had played semi-pro baseball in British Columbia and loved to golf. John made us all laugh, was loved by everyone he met and will be very sadly missed by all of his family and many friends. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Nel), Bridgewater; daughter, Laurie Havinga (Ken), Mahone Bay; son, John, San Francisco; grandchildren, Jack (14) and Tom Havinga (11); sisters Mildred (Archie) and Bernadette (Andy). He was predeceased by sisters Mary (Jack), Matilda (John), Veronica (Hugh), Patricia (Basil), Collette (Tom); brothers, Fred (Betty), Lloyd (Marie), Edward (Norma). CRUMMEY, William Frank  (October 29, 1929 - May 14, 2007) It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to Frank, beloved husband of Margaret, loving father of Jim (Judy), Steve (Angie), and Rob (Veronika), much loved Papa of Brandon, Shelby, Robyn, Liam, Sarah, Lauren, and Erin. Frank will also be missed by his sister Grace Ray, his niece Barb Bergman, his brother-in-law Dave Nichols (Deb), his nephew Shawn Nichols, Sheila Crummey, and long time friend and neighbour Larry Tearun. Frank was born in Toronto but grew up in Western Bay, Newfoundland. Frank retired from the Scarborough Fire Department after thirty years of service and moved to the home he built and loved on Lake Couchiching. Frank was a man who valued the company of his family and friends. He was happiest working on a building project or watching his boys and later his grandchildren playing hockey, baseball and soccer. The family would like to extend special thanks to Angie Morrisey and to the staff of ICU D4 at Sunnybrook Hospital for their tremendous care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Children's Wish Foundation. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Frank's life on Friday, May 18, at Papps Restaurant, at Brock Road and the 401, Pickering (1-4 p.m.)

DREW, Ernest A. “Ernie” - (WWII Veteran, Former Employee of Roluf's Travel) passed away peacefully at the Belleville General Hospital on Monday May 7th, 2007 at the age of 81 while surrounded by his loving family. Loving son of the late Tom and Ruby Drew. Beloved husband of Irene (Roluf) Drew of 34 wonderful years. Dear father of Gale Drew of B.C., and Darlene Warren of Regina, SK and her children Brittany, and Marly, and stepfather of Rana Harris (Don) of Belleville and their children Julie and Jeffrey, and Rick Roluf (Barbara) of Oshawa and their children Joslynn and Carl. Survived by his sister Molly Danniels (Fred), and by brother Lloyd (Marie), all of Scarborough. Predeceased by his sister Olive Enman and survived by her husband William, and by brother Fred and survived by his wife Dian. Also remembered by his in-laws Selma McComb, Max Wodzak (Donna), Sylvia Grills (late Gerald), Kenneth Wodzak (Karen), Judy Leeson (Bill), Wilma Wodzak (late George), and mother-in-law Selma Wodzak-Smith. Fondly cherished by his many many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Ernie's life will be held from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (516 Victoria Ave., Belleville) on Friday May 11th, 2007 at 11:00a.m. Pastor Krister Ulmanis officiating. In the company of his family, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit on Monday, May 7, 2007 in his 71st year. Beloved husband of Shirley (Stevens).

Loving father of Leah (Scott Cartmel) of Buckhorn and their children Cole, Courtney and Adam; Brent (Jacqui) of Oshawa and their children Gracie and Charlie; and Blake (Candy) of Oshawa and their children Ashley and Abby. Dear brother of Robert, Patricia Marrott both of Scarborough and John Corbett of Montreal.

Friends will be received at the NISBETT FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 600 Monaghan Rd. S., Peterborough on Thursday from 6-9 p.m.
